Blog feedback and learner response

WWW: You’ve made such a brilliant start to A Level Media – well done! Your blog is fully up to date and your blog posts are detailed and thoughtful without exception. From the analysis of the film posters to your reflection on the mise-en-scene recreation this is exactly what I want to see in a top-level blog. Having the 10 introductory questions post on your coursework blog was a bonus (it only needed to be on the exam blog) and it allowed me to see your ambition to secure an A/A* grade. Well, I’d say you’ve made the perfect start so far – keep up the good work!

EBI: I’ll be honest, it’s hard to fault what you’ve done so far and you’re also contributing superbly in lessons too. One element I did notice was quite a few typos in your blog-posts – are you using a phone or tablet to complete the work? Most of them read like auto-correct errors rather than an issue with written English but it’s one we can keep an eye on.

LR: Create a blog posts on your Media 2 Coursework blog called ‘Blog feedback and learner response’, copy this feedback in and then complete the following learner response.

Reflect on your first month of Film & TV Language. What aspect of Film & TV language have you most enjoyed studying? What is your strongest piece of work so far? What is your weakest? What specific skills or knowledge do you need to develop before we start coursework at the end of Year 12?

Music video pre-production

1) Music video treatment You may already have a finished music video treatment from your summer project and/or preliminary exercise - definitely use or develop that if it works with your project.  However, you may need to update your treatment or even change it completely now you have finished your preliminary exercise. The original example from the summer for music video treatments can be found here. Green day - Wake me up when September ends - Original Artist + Song ClueS (will abbreviate to CS for treatment) - Artist Warm tones: Orange, teal 2 shots, low angle, Nostalgia/friendship The camera is on a close up of the pavement curb as 'CS' steps up revealing shoe brand. Then the camera moves anticlockwise and up to meet the face of 'CS' and cuts to a medium shot of him walking towards a bridge. Camera cuts to a side view and as 'CS' walks, the time changes and man is introduced walking alongside 'CS' towards the bridge. Montage of both actors having fun...

Statement of Intent

This week, we need to write and submit a second draft of our Statement of Intent that will be marked and given feedback in terms of a current level and approximate grade. The Statement of Intent is worth 10 of the 60 marks so if we want A/A* we'll need something close to full marks on this component.    One important point to remember is that your Statement of Intent is what you are planning to do - so it must be written in the future tense ('I will...' rather than 'I have...') This is not an evaluation but instead a written account of what you intend to produce. You need to submit the second draft of your Statement of Intent as a NEW blog post AND email or share a version from Microsoft Word / Google Docs with your coursework teacher. Statement of Intent guidance is provided by AQA in their NEA Student Booklet but we strongly recommend you also look at our Statement of Intent questions to consider document too (you'll need to log in with your Greenford Googl...
