Cinematography video feedback/learner response

1) Type up your feedback/comments from your teacher.

  • Absolutely outstanding - I loved it!
  • Superbly creative interpretation of the brief, excellent labelling of shots and angles/movement
  • Sound and mise-en-scene also excellent. superb work!

2) Type up your feedback from fellow students.

  • Great labelling
  • Good camera shots/angles/use of environment
  • Great Actors/sounds/editing
  • Good narrative/creative
  • Some actors laughing
  • (Perfect)

3) Now reflect on your work and write your own summary of the comments and feedback you have received. Write three WWWs and three EBIs.

WWW:
  • Labelled all the camera angles/shots and movements really well
  • Creative use of mise-en-scene to create narrative
  • Really good editing that amplified the comedic qualities
EBI:
  • Need challenge myself even more to use angles in more creative ways
  • Be a better director (actors laughing)
  • Have it meet the brief exactly at 1 minute
4) Learner response: think about what you learned about cinematography making the video and also watching others. What will you do differently when you start the coursework in the summer? What tips or tricks have you learned from others that you can use next time? Are there any specific aspects of camerawork that you need to revise or practice?

I think that from this practical use of cinematography has shown me that using camera shots can convey different things about the narrative and overall theme of certain scenes while also establishing the characters as either important and someone we should sympathise with or someone who isn't that important or will play a certain role while the focus of certain parts through different camera shots can convey how the narrative will be driven.

For my future coursework i definitely want to improve my editing but focusing on the cinematography of the coursework I would like to use more extreme and creative ways of using camera shots to convey certain feelings and distinct narrative that allows for the audience to really immerse themselves into the creation.

What i really liked was the use of the still image of thhe selfie in one of the productions that had been shown as it adds some comedic value to their text while also establishing that its not meant to be taken to seriously which I like as it allows the audience to take that scene however they want as either being a statistical murderer who keeps mementos of his murders or just a picture portrayed in a comedic light within something that feels much more horror like.

Independent: British viewers can't get enough of foreign-language dramas Read this  Independent feature on foreign-language dramas . If the website is blocked or forcing you to register  you can access the text of the article here . It features an in-depth interview with Walter Iuzzolino who curates Channel 4's Walter Presents programming. Answer the questions below: 1) What does the article suggest regarding the traditional audience for foreign-language subtitled media? Fifteen years ago, if you'd mentioned to a colleague that you'd spent Saturday night glued to a subtitled European drama, you'd have been quietly declared pretentious, dull and, possibly, a little odd.Skip to today and foreign-language dramas aren't even on-trend, they're fully mainstream. Now we are as likely to discuss the latest Danish thriller over a morning flat white at our desks as we are a new season on HBO. 2) What does Walter Iuzzolino suggest is the key appeal of his 'Walter P...

Editing blog task

Your final analytical blog task is to find a film or television clip on YouTube that you feel has been edited in a distinctive way and write a 750 word analysis of the clip. Shawn of the dead (2004) 0:01 - 2:50  1800~ Words (Should be a good read) Starting with editing the scene that begins the sequence of events within this clip starts off with a few straight cuts create juxtaposition that establish the main character and links the eyesight of the protagonist ‘Shawn’ to a board on the wall which helps establish that what’s written on there is significant to him and specifically enables the audience to gain a grasp and some context behind Shawn as a character and then the its edited in a way in which the camera straight cuts to someone laying on the couch with Shawn in the back. This establishes a connection between him and the character as being close as we as an audience can assume they are friends due to the request made by the man laying on the couch. After this scene a lon...
